I’m a multifaceted creator of fluid abstract art. My paintings use vibrant colors to document the human experience with the energetic expression of light through the darkness. This life-changing journey allows me to express myself in ways only dreamt before by vividly reporting the transmutation of trauma-induced stress into glowing blissful joy. Currently, I am working to generate expansive visual content that tells my story of finding inspiration and hope in our world.

Born in 1977 in New Jersey, Derrick’s artistic journey began in Palatka, Florida. There he discovered his passion for creative expression at a young age. After studying Music Business at Jacksonville University, Derrick immersed himself in the world of media and entertainment, working at television news stations in Jacksonville and the Tampa Bay area. During his time living in St. Petersburg, Derrick encountered the surreal works of Salvador Dali, which ignited a newfound inspiration that shaped his artistic vision. Influenced by local muralists and glass-blowing sculptors, Derrick began to cultivate a unique style that reflects his personal experiences, creating a visual journal that encapsulates the essence of life.
In 2019, Derrick began sharing his artistry with the community. Derrick’s exploration of fluid art emerged during a personal journey of awakening, where he delved into the healing power of creativity. Utilizing a selection of tools, he skillfully manipulates combinations of acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, and mixed media, resulting in striking pieces that shimmer with color shifting metallic hues and shades that glow under black light.
His work embodies themes of light piercing through darkness and serves as a conduit for spiritual reflection and healing from personal trauma. Through “Shamanic Innovations,” Derrick integrates meditation, prayer, and the natural cycles of space and elements into his art. Music plays a pivotal role in his creative process, often influencing the rhythm and flow of his work.
